A WALDO YOUTH THEATRE PRODUCTION
Auditions on 2 February at noon and 5 February at 4:30
Performances on 6, 11, 12, 13, and 19 April
Wind in the Willows is a delightful tale of animal friends roaming the English countryside and getting into all manner of adventures, along the way learning some important things about life. The classic children's book, upon which the show is based, celebrates the 100th anniversary of its first publication this year, and continues to inspire glowing reviews from people of all ages. Children from 7 to 17 are encouraged to come participate in the fun of the Waldo Theatre's live adaptation of this masterpiece.

16 February at 7 PM
23-year-old Courtney Blasius, a graduate of Medomak Valley High School here in Waldoboro, suffered near-fatal cardiac arrest on her birthday last September. It has taken months of rehabilitation for Courtney to forge even a partial recovery. On Saturday, February 16th at 7 PM, the Waldo Theatre will host the local bands Pickled Beats and The Toughcats, to benefit the Support for Courtney Fund. Concert tickets are $8 in advance or $10 at the door, and are available in Waldoboro (Waltz Drug, The Little Sunshine Market, or Fernald's 5&10), Rockland (Rock City Books & Coffee), Damariscotta (Waltz Pharmacy and Maine Coast Books & Cafe), Union (The Cricket), and Camden (Wild Rufus). We also suggest a pre-concert dinner at The Narrows Tavern in Waldoboro, which has agreed to donate a portion of its profits to the fund.

7 March at 7 PM, 8 March at 2 PM, 9 March at 2 PM
Winnie-the-Pooh, the classic children's book by A. A. Milne, comes to life in the only official adaptation for live theatre. Come join schoolboy Christopher Robin's "silly old bear" in his adventures with his friends, Piglet, Eeyore, and the other residents of the Hundred Acre Wood.
Then stay for Taradiddle Tales, the award-winning play by Flora Atkins. It is the story of a group of travelling actors, who set out to dramatize a series of four authentic children's folk tales from around the world, "The Donkey Ride", "Caps for Sales", "Peter the Fool", and "The Magic Tree." Together, these tales will delight children -- or the child in anyone who thinks they might have outgrown them.
Winnie the Pooh and Taradiddle Tales are being performed by Theater of the Spirit, an ecumenical theatre troupe based in Newcastle, as a benefit for the Waldo Theatre. Tickets cannot be pre-ordered through the theatre but may be purchased at the door, $5 for children 10 and under, $8 for ages 11 and up. Tickets can also be purchased at Waltz Pharmacy in Waldoboro or the Maine Coast Bookstore in Damariscotta. All proceeds will go to benefit the continued operation of the theatre.

Ballykelty (formerly Any Monday) has been performing for seventeen years, with three CDs to their credit. Together, they sing and play Irish drum, guitar, pennywhistle, celtic harp, mandolin, accordion, fiddle, and cittern. (They also make all their own stringed instruments!) They are currently working on the release of their next CD, Blow All Ye Winds, but are taking time off for a one-night performance at the Waldo Theatre.

29 March
Soiree at 6:30 PM, performance at 7:30 PM
This year's special event, free but for theatre sponsors and members only, will be the sequel to last year's Noir Suspicions. Champagne, hors d'oeuvres, and desserts will be served up with a dose of mystery in Murder Point Blank. The soiree for the theatre's guests will begin at 6:30 -- but not all of those mingling will have come through the front door. At 7:30, some will slink up to the stage where, once again, Rick Archer's Cafe Noir will play host to a story of scandal, intrigue, and betrayal. Can you figure out whodunnit?
If you are not yet a member, but would like to attend Murder Point Blank, please click on March 29th on the calendar to go to our online Membership Form.

9 May at 7:30 PM
For many years, the Tapestry Singers have been entertaining Maine's mid-coast with their impressive chorale performances. This week, under the direction of Harold Falconer, the ensemble (about three dozen people) will present their latest concert at the Waldo Theatre. Their performance will span five centuries of songs from the British Isles, from the timeless works of Handel and Thomas Morley, to an arrangement of Scottish folk songs by Beethoven, to modern compositions by Arthur Sullivan and John Rutter. Accompanied by pianist Sean Fleming, cellist Richard Francis, and violinist Ferdinand Liva, the Tapestry Singers' latest performance promises to be outstanding.
Adult tickets are $10 in advance or $12 at the door, and can be purchased here on our website, from Waltz Drug in Waldoboro, or from the Maine Coast Bookship in Damariscotta. Children and students are invited to attend for free.
PRESENTED BY THE MEDOMAK VALLEY LAND TRUST
29 April at 7:00 PM
This month, the Medomak Valley Land Trust is proud to present the movie King Corn at the Waldo Theatre. King Corn is a documentary (somewhat similar in tone to Super Size Me) following the story of two friends, an acre of Iowa soil, and the bumper crop of corn they grow there. When the friends try to follow their corn into America's food system, what they find raises troubling questions about how we eat and how we farm.
The movie will be preceded at 6:30 by a spread of local wines and cheeses, and will be followed by a Q&A with Ian Cheney, one of the movie's stars, who grew up spending his summers in Waldoboro.
This entire event is being presented for free. For more information, please contact the Medomak Valley Land Trust at 832-5570.
WORLD PREMIERE OF THE NEW SHOW
BY ARTHUR MAYERS
16 May at 7:30 PM, 17 May at 7:30 PM, 18 May at 2 PM
This weekend in May, the Waldo Theatre will present the world premiere of Arthur Mayers' new show, Mildred's Chorus. A "comedy with music," Mildred's Chorus follows the story of the title character. Once the director of seasonal musicals featuring neighborhood children who sang popular music for an audience of their parents, the widowed Mildred has grown old. One day, a young musician comes to the door selling magazines. In him, she sees him a new talent for her shows, so she invites him and his friends over to practice -- but their band plays punk rock. From there, the story follows the twists and turns as Mildred nonetheless attempts to recreate a musical like those of her heyday.
Tickets for Mildred's Chorus are $8, and may be purchased at the theatre's box office before the performance.

AMERICAN COUNTRY RADIO MUSIC FROM THE 30s AND 40s20 September at 7:30 PM
The Radio Gang, a group of veteran musicians, is winning acclaim from fans and critics for its live performances and recordings of vintage American country radio music from the 1930s and 1940s. Their rousing renditions of classic melodies recapture the mood of a period in American history when folks gathered on a Saturday evening around the radio and the popular music told stories of our lives. The Radio Gang presents a rich and varied program that appeals to young and old -- spirited fiddle tunes; gospel; train songs; shout tunes; traditional bluegrass; and ballads that tell tales of the Depression, of heartbreak and of love. The group includes Mac McHale on the guitar, banjo, and mandolin; John Roc on mandolin, dobro, and guitar; and Sally Roc on the stand-up bass.
